  • Finally, a decision of the U.S. Supreme Court that unites the country! Unfortunately, the Kelo decision, which broadened the use of eminent domain in a way that would have shocked the wigs off the founding fathers, united the country against the Supreme Court. A state constitutional amendment overturning this decision should have been a slam-dunk. But the Supreme Court said that eminent domain could be used for “economic development” purposes, and who wants to “ban” “economic development?” Our opinion research told us that we had to get beyond the legalisms and give this issue a human face. This spot put the issue in the proper perspective, with tongue firmly in cheek. And the signage we designed played off the television advertising, branding the proposal with the faces of our “stars.”
