Lori Wortz and Fred Wszolek lead the team at WWP Strategies. We didn’t start in this field as practitioners of some narrow specialty. We started as generalists who saw how all the pieces came together. We later became specialists, but we kept our knack for strategy.
We’ve been involved in campaigns at all levels, for candidates, constitutional amendments and big fights over issues in Congress and the Legislatures. We’ve worked in the legislative branch, the executive branch, the private sector.
Lori Wortz is a Founding Partner of WWP Strategies. Lori has worked on campaigns at every level since entering the political arena during the 1988 Presidential campaign. While Lori got her start in grassroots organizing, she has distinguished herself as a key strategic advisor to statewide candidate and issue campaigns. She is recognized as a prominent figure in Michigan politics.
From 1990-1998, Lori worked as Chief of Staff in the Michigan Senate for the Senate Majority Leader. She directly participated in key policy debates, including property tax reform, school funding reform, charter school legislation, energy and telecommunication deregulation, welfare reform and changes in the unemployment compensation system.
In 1998, Lori left the Michigan Senate to become an issue and candidate campaign consultant. Since that time, Lori has successfully worked on statewide campaigns for issues involving gaming, eminent domain, conservation, right to work, energy regulation and more. In addition to the coalitions and issue work, Lori has served as strategist and consultant to state parties, candidate campaigns and legislative caucuses.
Lori is very involved in foundation and community volunteer work, serving on various boards. Appointed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, Lori serves as Chair of the Michigan Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board. She lives in Okemos, Michigan with her husband and four children.
Fred works with clients to define the strategies and messages that will ensure victory. He brings three decades of political experience to his work. From campaign manager in the field to media producer in the studio, Fred has been involved in winning political and issue campaigns since 1984.
Fred is an innovator in politics. Working with a team of nationally recognized pollsters, Fred helped develop MicroTargeting, the first “Big Data” targeting and market segmentation tools available to Republican campaigns in America. In 2002, Campaigns & Elections magazine named Fred one of the Rising Stars of Politics. Fred's broadcast advertising work for candidates and ballot proposals has been recognized with numerous Pollie, Telly and Communicator Awards.
Fred has developed a particular specialty in the passage and defeat of ballot proposals, where he has developed a unique public opinion research methodology for determining what messages will push voters to cast their votes for or against the huge number of direct democracy proposals that are appearing on ballots in many states.
Fred lives and works in the politeness, and southern food capital of the world, Charleston, South Carolina, and he is a vocal hater of the Polar Vortex.
Patrick focuses on issue management campaigns, grassroots development, ballot proposal campaigns, project management and research.
Patrick cut his teeth in politics in the state legislature. His 10 years with the State House allowed him to build a diverse resume both in policy work and in campaign tactics. He has extensive background in campaign management, opposition research, fundraising, and development and implementation of legislative agendas.
In 2009, Patrick left the legislature and joined the Michigan Republican Party as their first Legislative Liaison. In this role he coordinated candidate recruitment, campaign strategy, and grassroots efforts between the Party and the State House and Senate. In the 2010, he took over the position of Director of the House Republican Campaign Committee. This gave him the opportunity to oversee a multi-million dollar statewide campaign under the leadership of now Michigan Lt. Governor Brian Calley.
Todd joined WWP Strategies in March 2013 and is responsible for developing and implementing grassroots strategies for several of WWP’s clients.
Prior to joining WWP Strategies, Todd served as Regional Field Director for Americans For Prosperity (AFP)- managing staff and directing efforts in Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Wisconsin. Before joining AFP Todd was a member of the United Way Worldwide Public Policy Team, lobbying Congress and directing grassroots efforts on health care, tax, non-profit strengthening, and housing policy matters.
Immediately preceding his tenure with United Way, Todd served as the Legislative Director for Regional Aviation Partners (RAP) for nearly four years. Todd was an aide to United States Senator John McCain for over 5 years, working on the United States Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee and in Senator McCain’s Phoenix, Arizona office from 1999 through 2004. Over the years he has worked on or volunteered his time on campaigns for various local, state, and federal candidates for office.
Todd grew up in Door County (WI). He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Arizona State University. He and his wife Kim, along with their son Anthony reside in DeWitt, MI. In his free time he enjoys spending time with family and friends, along with time outdoors hunting and fishing.
Heather Greenaway brings to WWP Strategies significant experience leading grassroots and earned media campaigns – from Capitol Hill to the campaign trail. Heather comes to WWP Strategies from DDC Advocacy where she served as a vice president and a strategic partner to clients, managing multi-faceted programs for Fortune 100 corporations, major associations, and trade organizations.
Heather oversaw and worked closely with DDC Advocacy’s campaign management team to execute integrated efforts that combined activities ranging from interactive and earned media to field operations to coalition building.
Prior to DDC Advocacy, Heather was a Senior Media Manager at the Direct Impact Company, leading local earned media campaigns across the country for the firm’s major clients. She also previously worked for Edelman PR, where she executed a wide range of public relations efforts.
Heather worked for U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, where she managed all media correspondence and conducted press conferences across the state of Florida, as well as on Capitol Hill. Since moving to the Washington, D.C., area, Heather has continued to travel to Florida to manage media efforts for a variety of political campaigns.
Heather received her degrees in Political Science and Communications from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
Matthew Stewart joined WWP Strategies in January of 2012 with a professional background in marketing, strategic communications, event coordination and grassroots organization.
Since joining WWP, Matt has focused on grassroots development, issue management in the private sector and driving earned media on public relations initiatives. Matt’s commitment and passion for success has followed him through numerous industries including environmental, healthcare, pharmaceutical and retail industries. Matt’s ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with industry leaders and elected officials has enhanced partnerships with statewide and national associations, non-profit organizations, political activists and grassroots citizens groups to deliver effective messaging on both state and federal campaigns.
Matt and his wife Lindsay live in Brighton, MI with their 4 children.
